For the Love of the Game

Some of my earliest and fondest memories of my Dad are of him listening to Giants baseball. He loved the Giants and because he loved the Giants I loved the Giants too.

Candlestick was the park of my youth and many memories were made there.  I took Mr. Man there to see his first professional baseball game and the Idaho boy thought he was going to freeze to death.  He didn't believe me when I told him you are going to need a coat!  But it is 100 degrees he says to me in protest; he didn't realize that Candlestick was its own weather zone of freezing cold even on the hottest summer day.

Mr. Man wasn't always a Giants fan; that of course has changed.  Today we are a family of Giants lovers.  The tradition lives on and as I spoke to each of the kids tonight each one, yes even the girls were enjoying the Giants do what they do best....................
provide drama!

Thinking

I love the commitment I make each October for 31 for 21.  I love that each day and sometimes days in advance my mind is furiously thinking about what to write about next.  I love to write albeit some days I have more to say than others.  After a month this should be a habit. Right?  I hope so.

Why Ya Gotta Yell?

Why do ya?  It can be so disappointing.  Two examples.

Example One:

I love XM radio. I can't help it. I have four. I pay for four. Sometimes I want to listen to it on my computer as well. I use to be able to do that for free because I already paid for XM for my cars. But now that has changed and they want to (want being the operative word) charge me to listen to it on my computer. So I have to call and be ornery for them to see that I shouldn't have to pay an additional fee to listen on my computer.  Really people, I pay four times, four times too much and you think I'm going to pay again. I don't think so. I now have one year free, when my year is up I will call back and be ornery again so I can get another year free.

Example Two:

Probably two words is all I need to say for you to understanding the disappointment and the need for a stern voice with this example. Insurance and Doctors. I think I've said enough, you know where I'm going with this. Why repeat what you already know. These professions just love to antagonize each other. They are pot stirrers. It is a love/hate relationship. They create business for themselves by getting the patient involved because really who can be patient with either of them. They create heartburn, headaches, nightmares, high blood pressure and the list goes on.

All so disappointing................

My word today is blessed.  Simply put I have been.  And a day does not go by when I don't give thanks for every single blessing that is mine.  Today it will be no different.

Friends

What would I do without them?
I Don't Want To Know!
I laugh with them,
I cry with them,
I dream with them,
I learn from them,
I am who I am because of them!
But mostly I'm just so grateful for them!

The Word

So the word that works best for me is disappointed.  I don’t like the words "mad" or "angry" or even "hurt"………they seem to use up too much energy; I would rather save my energy for more important things.  So I’ve settled on disappointed.  To be simply disappointed just takes less energy; it is almost peaceful.  When I'm disappointed I've over "it" must quicker.  I love words that help me be better.  And although some things in life are disappointing; I've learned in life that tomorrow is a new day and what was disappointing yesterday is forgotten tomorrow.

Shoe Fly

This is the deal with shoes and why women love them so much. The bottom line is they fit! They fit today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, and ten years from now............I can't say that about my pants!  Do you see the connection........we love them because they don't betray us! And for that matter I guess the same could be said for purses and cozy blankets.......

Sunday Goodness

If you don’t like who you are and where you are, don’t worry about it because you’re not stuck either with who you are or where you are. You can grow. You can change. You can be more than you are.

Unforgettable Phrases

There are just some people and some voices that one can't forget; my friend Cats is one of those people and has one of those voices.  There are things she says that just make me laugh.  She says things like:

“Button”
and
"Shut your mouth"
and
“I don’t like you at all right now”
and
“Why you gotta be so mean”
and
“That hurts my heart when you say that to me”

I don't know what it is but there is something in her voice that makes my heart sing when I hear her words!

Content

I recently got one of those forwarded emails that got me to thinking. In part it read:

"May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are."

I would just like to add "and never doubt who you are."

Just Things

I just finished reading a book.  There were a couple of parts in the book that jumped off the page for me:

"Home is not a place; it's the people placed in your heart."
My heart is full!

"Things seem to happen when the timing is right, and I have faith that this will always be true."
Patience proves that!

"No matter what blessings may or may not come my way in the future, I realize that I have already had plenty.  God has been good to me."
My cup runneth over!

Unexpected

The best moments are the unexpected ones.  Like running into a friend when you least expect it. Since I rarely have a car at work, I usually never leave.  But every now and again I will hitch a ride with one of the girls at work when they leave to run errands.  Wednesday was one of those days.  And just by chance I ran into a great friend.  The moment was like when stars collide.  I had left one store and stopped to return a phone call on my way to the next store.  Had I not stopped I would have missed that window of opportunity.  I could have easily returned the phone call upon my return to work but no I stopped made the call, finished the call and looked up and there walking toward me was a great surprise.  I love those moments.  And what I love even more is the fact that this almost same experience happened to me last Wednesday, too.  There I was sitting down to lunch with my Bro when suddenly out of nowhere appears another wonderful friend who had decided that very day she wanted to eat at the same place we were dinning. She joined us and we had a wonderful visit the three of us.  What a wonderful Wednesday.  I can hardly wait for next Wednesday to see what chance encounter I may have..........

More on the Voyage

Since our maiden voyage was a last minute invitation, there was no cooking done in our home away from home.  In fact, we learned that the battery in the camper is very short lived and basically we had no power unless of course the truck was running.  So this trip we were lucky enough to be with friends who fed us some wonderful food.  We did bring the fixings for "s-mores" but left the “s-more sticks” at home…………we are learning.  Fortunately, they had the sticks for the roasting of the marshmallows!  The sleeping arrangements in our new home was good the first night but much better the second.  After the first night we realized we needed to “rearrange” our home so as to level out the sleep quarters……it is no fun to sleep with one’s head heading south.  This trip there were no hook ups.  We totally relied on the facilities in camp.  The next trip will be full hook ups.  It will be fun to compare the two.  Since this trip was a last minute one we learned lots and made lists of things we need for future travel.  It also made me realize that knowing what to grab if you are under pressure is a lot harder than one thinks; mainly because it is hard to think in that situation; one's mind tends to race.  I had several hours and still forget things.  I probably need to make a list and keep it in the pantry if we were ever to be evacuated or get a last minute invitation again!

The List

I left work Thursday (Friday was a furlough day for me) with a long list of “must do’s” what with time and Saturdays clicking away toward our November trip. Seven Saturdays to be exact but who’s counting right?  Not me, since at least 3 of those 7 I won't even be home! I was determined to stay focused and get some things checked off that list. Anyway just as we pulled into the driveway I got an email from a friend inviting us to go camping with them to Grover Hot Springs State Park in Markleeville…………oh man I kept saying, oh man. What an invitation. What to do, what to do............ Needless to say we starting scrambling to make it work; taking a late night trip to Wal-Mart.  The camper hadn’t been touched since we brought it home and so Friday morning I was busy getting it “stocked” up so to speak.  Stay tuned to hear about our maiden voyage.

Precious Present

Worry won’t change the outcome and should one door close another door will surely open!  I have to live with that belief so as not to be paralyzed in the present!
